About Scegen
Scegen turns a single prompt into a finished narrated video — automatically, and natively on your Mac.
Making video is slow. You write a script, record or generate a voiceover, find visuals, line everything up on a timeline, add captions, and export — over and over for every clip. Scegen collapses that into one flow: type a prompt, and it produces a scene-by-scene video you can edit and render right away.
What it does
Under the hood, Scegen takes your idea and uses your chosen AI provider — OpenAI or Google — to expand it into a structured story, splitting it into scenes that each carry their own narration and an image prompt. For every scene it generates a natural-sounding AI voiceover and a matching image, keeping characters and visual style consistent across the whole video through a shared style guide.
From there it’s a full studio: a scene editor for reordering, regenerating, or swapping in your own video clips and audio; drag-to-place text overlays you can rotate, stretch, skew, and curve; karaoke-style animated captions synced to the narration; per-scene motion, transitions, and background music. When you’re ready, Scegen composites and renders everything to MP4 using Apple’s native AVFoundation — on your machine, in the background, while you keep working.
Built native, built private
Scegen is a genuine macOS app written in SwiftUI — not a web wrapper. There’s no FFmpeg, no Electron, no cloud render farm. Your projects live on your own Mac, and rendering never leaves your device. The text you generate is sent directly from your machine to your chosen AI provider (OpenAI or Google) — your API key is stored securely in the macOS Keychain, we don’t run a server in between, and we don’t collect your content.

Scegen is built to keep your content on your device. This policy explains exactly what data is involved and where it goes.
The short version
- Your projects, renders, audio, and images are stored locally on your Mac.
- To generate scripts, voiceover, and visuals, the text and prompts you provide are sent to your chosen third-party AI provider — OpenAI and/or Google (Gemini) — for processing.
- In Bring-Your-Own-Key mode, your API keys are stored in the macOS Keychain and never sent to us — we operate no server in between.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and we do not sell your data.
Information we process
Content you provide. The ideas, scripts, narration text, and image prompts you enter are sent to your selected AI provider (OpenAI and/or Google) to generate the corresponding script, audio, and images. This is required for the app’s core function. Generated output is saved locally on your device.
Your API keys. If you use your own OpenAI or Google API key, it is stored locally in the macOS Keychain and used only to authenticate your requests directly to that provider. It is never transmitted to Platka Digital.
Files you import. Any music, images, or video you add are copied into the app’s local storage on your Mac. They are not uploaded anywhere by Scegen.
Third-party processing (OpenAI & Google)
When you generate content, your text and prompts are processed by the AI provider you choose, under that provider’s terms and privacy policy. Depending on your settings, this is OpenAI, Google, or both. Please review openai.com/policies and Google’s Privacy Policy. Before any request is sent, Scegen shows a consent prompt disclosing this third-party data sharing.
What we don’t do
- We don’t run a server that receives or stores your content — requests go directly from your Mac to your AI provider.
- We don’t include analytics, crash-tracking, or advertising SDKs.
- We don’t track you across apps or websites, and we don’t sell or share personal data for advertising.
Data retention & control
Because your data lives on your Mac, you control it. Deleting a project removes its files from your device. You can clear caches and remove your API keys from within the app at any time.
Children
Scegen is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves (for example, when an optional managed Cloud mode launches). Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date.
